Aps. Dr. Felix Elvis Antwi
The man who served God's purpose
Tribute by Eunice
My beloved Dad, I affectionately called “Maame Gyamfua’s daddy”. You were so dear to me. In fact you were my best friend. Oh my daddy I cannot believe you have left us. It is hard to believe this and I cannot stop shedding tears and missing you every minute of the day. On this day even as we bid you farewell, I want to place on record that you were a special and great Dad and I will forever miss you, and I thank God for your life.
Dad you were so caring and concerned about every bit of my life. You followed me and kept in constant touch throughout every challenge of life. You and Mum have always been there for me in times of crisis and your positive outlook and your great faith meant that a solution was never far away. Now that you are gone who will fill this vacuum?
Dad, the legacy that you have left for me and I believe all your children is that we should not settle for mediocrity. This is evident in most of the themes in your sermon which pivoted on slogans like “think big”. Daddy in all your interactions with us, you have taught us not to settle for the ordinary but make the sky our limit. Our careers and achievements are a testament to the love and lessons that you instilled in us as beloved children.
Daddy you were so proud of your wife and children and the whole world would testify to this. You never delivered any sermon without showering praise on your wife and making a countless list of all the achievement of your children. You told the whole world about me earning a doctor of Pharmacy degree. To my disappointment you did not wait to witness this day. Oh “aguawura” my daddy, this was too quick a departure!
Daddy, you were not the kind of dad who was unapproachable. Rather you were so down to earth and related to me as a friend by speaking my language such as “Maame Gyamfua filla ben na wo ho?” You also shared in my jokes such as “nipa tare daen ho onye kutere.” Dad, in our fun times I called you “Aguawura” (meaning chairman) or “Apotre” (meaning Apostle in French) and you always responded with smiles. My best friend has been taken away. I will miss all these simple happy things you brought to our family. I will miss the times we had dinner together. I will miss your calls, and above all I miss your affectionate smiles and hugs.
Dad, you had so much confidence in me. Maame Gyamfua’s opinion was your best counsel. You even relied on my judgment to choose your suits when you went for special occasions. Dad the fun part of it was that it was a hard task since I had to give a reason for each choice I made. I never doubted you loved me, Dad. This is evident in your selfless actions and interaction with me. You have been so involved in my life even in the choosing of my better half. Thank you for guiding me to choose this wonderful man in my life. Thank you for giving me the best education but above all thank you for leading us to the Lord.
My Daddy, I know you have gone to be with the Lord; it is fulfilling to know that but I will miss you dearly. On behalf of Thomas, your son-in-law, your cherished grandchildren; Felix Elvis (Papa) , Kobby, and Ewurabena, we thank you. Oh daddy! Maame Gyamfua’s daddy, fare thee well, rest in peace, the lord keep thee well. I love you!
Maame Gyemfuah
