The man who served God's purpose
Tribute from In Laws
We have lost a father in-law who loved all of us like he would his own children; we all did call him Daddy. We are distraught by your sudden passing on to glory and we received the news of your home call with shock.
We could all remember how you embraced us into your family in the early days of our relationships with our spouses. You became a friend who offered support in diverse ways. Indeed you were an affable gentleman who had a special way of making all of us feel loved by you. Daddy, you were the down to earth Apostle who will sit with all of us whenever you visited and chat with us like a father would. You were to us more than a father-in-law.
Your relationship with Maa was a unique one; an example for any married couple to emulate. You rightly said that the love between couples should not be at its peak when they get married – it should continue to increase over all the years of their marriage. Your family life was a worthy example to follow.
It is difficult to comprehend the vacuum your departure has created in our lives. You inspired all of us- to have big dreams; dreams that could scare us. You encouraged and prayed for us in difficult times. You were always there for us, our spouses and our children. You made time to visit, you called to encourage; although your schedule was a busy one.
Daddy, your passion for the things of God was unparalleled. You did the Lord’s bidding with diligence and great detail. We know you were so much looking forward to your retirement after 32 years of full time ministry. Just when we were preparing for your retirement service, the God you served had a better retirement plan for you. You were suddenly called to glory, our hearts are heavy, but we could say in summaryyou have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, and you have kept the faith:
You have made an indelible mark on earth by your selfless service to God and humanity. We do miss you and you will forever be missed by all of us. Undoubtedly, we know you are resting in Abraham’s bosom. We take solace in the fact that you are with your maker.
In this time of grief, we re-call the words of H. Spafford – When peace, like a river, attendeth our way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever our lot, the Lord has taught us to say- it is well with us (paraphrased).
You did a yeoman’s job. You will never fade from our memories. Rest in Perfect Peace Daddy!
